Privacy and Confidentiality
 
General:
The Durham Association for Family Respite Services is committed to maintaining the privacy of the individuals and families we serve. We recognize that the provision of service often involves the sharing of personal and health information. Any personal family and health information shared with us is regarded as strictly confidential, and we will hold only the information that is necessary to provide service.
By law, information can only be shared with the written consent of the individual and/or family. This consent must outline both what information may be shared, with whom and for what purpose. All staff and volunteers are required to maintain the confidentiality of any information that they may learn in the process of providing support.
To monitor and ensure the quality of support provided, we collect statistical data from information shared and support provided. These reports are used internally and on occasion, some of the overall data may be used for external purposes. These reports do not contain any information that could be used to identify specific individuals or families.
